Ever liked something so much you don’t want it anymore? Ever eaten so full that you look at yourself with disgust? Or ever craved for something, you took a bite and wondered why you drove 1 hour to get your favorite vendor’s shawarma.
In economics, this is called diminishing returns. Nothing is ever so novel that humans don’t get tired of it. This will be the story of AI.
Writing will be so commoditized, human content will begin to be cherished.
Design will be so easy to get, the average street artist will get more attention.
AI is going to make humans want to be more human. And that’s a good thing.
But how does it affect your work today?
The keyword is human. Think about your work. Do you go back and forth with your client or colleague to achieve a desired result? Do you need to have endless meetings to stay on track?
A lot of these used to be productivity killers, but are now strong indicators of things AI cannot automate. The skills of the future are high-context, non-linear, and require interpersonal navigation. For example, product management, UX researcher, community management, programs manager, and operations manager.
However, some skills are still strong to help one make money in the next few years, since they are not easy to automate. They include virtual assistance, no-code development, sales development, video editing, animation, content strategy, and ad management.
What a time to be alive. It’s a new world. You either go with the flow and adapt quickly or get automated away.
