Today, I turn [do the math]. The question is - what have I done?
But I’m tired of asking the same question every year, because it never ends. I’ve come to realize that time is an illusion. If you think about it, there’s no end game. There’s no scoreboard. If you hit a big milestone as a 22 year old, the world will celebrate you for one day and move on. Then you’re back at the grind, pushing the next milestone.
So, how should you think about your age?
One answer - Don’t even think about it.
Instead, here’s how to go about it.
If you started learning a skill today, it doesn’t matter whether you’re 19 or 39, your primary focus should be a 10-year goal. 10 years is all you need to become an absolute version of what you never dreamed of.
No one has ever put their dream in a 10 year context and failed. Why?
You can take action without the micro pressure attached to your current age. Your focus would be on what’s working, what’s not. What other things to do, add or minus. And before you know it, you’re obsessed about a project that will change your life forever.
