Write 3 test scenarios for this login functionality.

For one of the test scenarios, write 3 detailed test cases including expected results.

Section 3: Automation Testing Basics

What is the purpose of Maven in a Selenium test automation project?
What role does TestNG play in automation testing?
Write a simple Java Selenium code snippet that:

Opens a Chrome browser

Navigates to https://example.com

Closes the browser

Task: OrangeHRM Functional Testing & Documentation

Perform structured manual and automation testing on the OrangeHRM Demo Site to build a portfolio-ready case study, blog post, and LinkedIn carousel post.

Part 1 – Manual Testing

Modules to Focus On

Admin (User Management & Job Titles)
PIM (Employee Management)

Steps

Explore the Application
- Log in with the demo credentials provided on the site.
- Navigate through the Admin and PIM modules.
Test Planning & Documentation
- Create a Test Plan with:
  - Scope & objectives
  - Testing types (functional, regression)
  - Environment setup (browser, OS)
  - Schedule & responsibilities
Test Case Design
Prepare test cases for the following sample scenarios:

Admin Module:
- Add a new system user
- Search for a user by username
- Update job title for an existing user
  
  PIM Module:
- Add a new employee
- Search for an employee by name
- Edit employee personal details
  
  For each test case, include:
- Test ID
- Description
- Preconditions
- Test steps
- Expected result
- Actual result (after execution)
- Status (Pass/Fail)
Traceability Matrix
Map test cases to the requirement IDs (you can treat each scenario as a requirement).
Execution & Bug Reporting
- Execute test cases on the demo site.
- Log any defects in a Bug Report:
  - Bug ID, title, severity, module, steps to reproduce, expected vs actual results, screenshots.
Test Summary Report
- Number of test cases executed
- Pass/fail count
- Number of defects logged
- Overall application quality assessment

Part 2 – Automation Testing

Setup

Install Java, Maven, Selenium, TestNG
Create a GitHub repo named orangehrm-testing

Automation Scope

Automate the following flows:

Login
Add Employee in PIM
Search Employee in PIM

Execution

Write Selenium + TestNG scripts
Parameterize test data where possible (e.g., employee names)
Generate reports using TestNG HTML reports or Extent Reports
Commit and push scripts to GitHub

Part 3 – Blog & LinkedIn Presentation

While executing the project:

Take step-by-step screenshots
Keep notes on challenges and how they were solved

Blog Post Structure:

Title: “Testing OrangeHRM: A Hands-On Functional & Automation Testing Project”
Introduction to OrangeHRM
Manual testing process (planning, test cases, execution)
