In everything you do, you cannot plan for “doing too much”. You have to do it, then it gets too much, and then you cut the fat. Companies or talents who try to cut the fat too early do what’s called “Premature optimization”.
No matter how amazing your plan is on paper, or how big your budget is, it’s almost impossible to start like you know what you’re doing, unless it’s not your first try.
As a company, you’d overplan, overhire, and overorganize. Then you’d find out you can do most things with less.
As a talent, you’d learn everything there’s about a skill, only to find out you spend most of the time in meetings and the actual work is simply following an SOP.
This is why I encourage talents to check job boards to see what employers are looking for, and learn 20% (80-20 rule) of that. That will save you at least 4 months if you had planned to learn a skill for 1 year.
So, let go of the pressure of figuring it all out or learning everything before you apply to that job. Cut the fat, and move light.
Stay focused.
